Illegal immigrants come and go like the shifting wind. Pursuing them to deport them is fairly ridiculous as it doesn't solve anything.

On the other hand, the landowners and businessowners who hire them are fairly static entities, with a mailing address and a taxpayer ID. Why the fuck aren't we prosecuting them instead? If we made the cost of hiring illegals as great or greater than the cost of hiring citizens, businesses would stop hiring illegals and the illegal immigrant problem would largely go away on its own.
Ding ding! If you're serious about stopping illegal immigration, then you have to stop what is making them come here-jobs and money. But you see, employers LIKE the cheap labor, politicians LIKE the campaign contributions, so all the complaining is just hype.
