The paintings would not be classed as being as horrific (if at all) because they are 're-creations', what you are seeing is one persons idea of what happened, probably inaccuratley with alot of 'artistic license' ! With a video or photo you are seeing what ACTUALLY happened, a painting is just someones imagination, or recollection.. and they are inherantley more artistic because they require a far greater degree of skill to pull off. To point a camera at a plane crashing into a building is just right time, right place. To spend weeks creating an oil on canvas image of something is alot harder, and therefore should be given more respect.
