Does anybody give a shit? Remember when the media laid out the reality of war during Vietnam and we all got intimate with the price our kids paid every day? See anything like that on the news since our first action in Iraq? Nothing. Zip. It's like it isn't even happening. Has any President come on TV and explained why our kids are dying every week over there? Bush-Clinton-Bush-Obama - all the same! Does anybody expect that, at least once a year, the President would address the nation and explain why mothers keep losing sons and daughters keep losing fathers?

Does anybody give a shit?????
Excellent question and last remark!

Before you guys poo poo me, yes I served in the US military.

The problem I find with this site and most of you saying let's go to war, let's nuke that country, they are bad people...those of you at the age where you can enlist WON"T and those of you who could have enlist DIDN"T!

It's alright as long as you get someone else to do your dirty work for you!

Another thing, as an ex-military person I get sick and tired of reading post saying men and women join the military to:

Protect the flag
Protect free speech
Protect democratic rights

No one wakes up in the morning and these things cross their mind. They do so to get training in a trade to lift their employment opportunities when they are discharged, some to prevent there self from being homeless in the streets and a few others to avoid incarceration.

You DON'T honor your war dead by continuing to go to war, you do so by preventing wars from happening in the 1st place. If you [as a nation] continue to go to war all past lives lost are done in vain. Means you have learned nothing and your not progressing towards a peaceful existence for ALL.

The ones who say we should be in wars from the comfort of your living room armchairs and computer desk you havent got a clue what war is really about. You are the same ones who do nothing when return service men and women return with long term mental and physical scars from being in wars. I havent seen one thread that address this issue. Plenty of threads war mongering asking OTHERS to place THEIR lives in jeopardy on your behalf.

If you say war deaths are a necessity, why aren't you joining the que or sending your brothers or sons into the military. IF you think it's HONORABLE why do you fight the re introduction of the Draft making it mandatory to serve in the military as it is in other countries?

War should be the exception not the norm!
