Also born in Houston.... Humble to be exact...and I have cousins down there. You're close to the gulf coast, so like Santeno said, the summers are blistering hot (100+ degrees at points) and made worse by the fact that it's so humid that the moment you step out of the refrigerated comfort of your home you break into a profuse sweat. Sugar Land is basically a suburb of Houston, so pretty much everything you need you can find, and the center of the city is a relatively short drive away. Distance-wise, anyway... Houston traffic is hellish. Winter can get cold... not snowy, but expect lots of rain, maybe some ice/sleet from time to time. You'll find that people in Texas are friendly, though often pretty conservative.
