Sugarland is named that because it grew up around a gigantic sugar refinery, which i think closed recently. The weather is hot during the summer, cool during the winter. It rains alot in Houston, and hurricanes are a threat too. But you can definetly get a much better home than in California. $500,000 is more than enough to get a large home.
