If you don't want to share the entire HDD then share individual folders. But, inside a home enviroment/network, you don't have problems of vulnerabilities. Anyway, I would suggest to manualy put the ip's on both computers, in order to no computer in the network play the role of the dhcp controller. Another question is if you want to share an internet connection to the network or not.
