You do know that Ray Ban and Oakley are made by the same company? Admittedly with differing target markets, but still the same company.
There are a lot of companies out there that have multiple lines of the same products. Like Thresher mentioned, there are several car makers like this. GM for example, Volkswagen and Audi as another.

There are also a lot of tool manufacturers that fall into the same category. Dewalt, Delta, and Porter Cable are all owned by Black and Decker. And if you gave me the choice between Black and Decker and Dewalt power tools, I would buy Dewalt every time because it is a brand known to be of higher quality.

Hell, I couldn't tell you how many Electronic makers have multiple brands of TV's out there. I know there are quite a few.

Essentially, you should not compare brands as being equal just because they are owned by the same company.

Those Ray Bans look pretty nice and I would probably go for something similar when looking for every day eyewear, but for sports, in my experience, Oakley glasses just fit the bill Yah, these sunglasses are for my every day use. I have a set of Tifosi Slip sunglasses for sports, mainly mountain biking. They are cheaper sunglasses that wouldn't hurt my feelings if they were broken on the trail and have changeable lenses for different light conditions.
