Some people who work for the government do. Some don't.

Mr. Obama...

YOU LIE!!!
It's nice to see that this has descended in to a partisan rant as usual...

The question is easily answered, YES... Both sides, the team sports politics in the US insists that both sides have to be at it or your considered unloyal.

Question 1:
Is the lies being told are for the countries benefit or are they covering up some personal or party screw up?

Question 2:
Should the question have been asked? Personal questions of politicians is none of our business and should be answered with mind your own business. Unless it affects your job and some cases the person should be allowed the time to explain this to his close family and friends first. I don't consider having a an affair as any of my business unless the guy is 24/7 telling us he is at a higher moral ground than the rest of us.

Question 3:
Are we doing enough?
It is every citizen duty to question what politicians tell us... The Price of Democracy...."
The calls of people doing this before has been met with charges of being 'unpatriotic'. That was disgraceful, people should ask the questions of there leaders, it is the patriotic thing to do.

Question 4:
Where are we getting our information from?
Spin: There is a hung amount of spin peddled through every media imaginable and it should be our duty to switch it off at times. When political commentators openly lie and admit to not fact checking they should be switched off and there sponsors not supported.
We should support investigative reporting where the facts have been checked. We should all support a higher standard of journalism.

The US political environment is a mix of team sports politics, where winning at all costs seems the only option. Truth has always been the first causality.

There is a another way but it would involve a change to the US political environment and introduce PR single transfer vote method of voting, this would start a rush more to the center rather appeasing your base (i.e. your team). It would generate a generation of politicians that need to be more centrist rather than playing to the base. Being obstructive, nontransparent or close minded are heavily punished at the polls.
