A perfect example of this kind of stupidity is an argument I had with BazerLace the other day where he thought it was stupid of me to spend a lot of money on clothes, while simultaneously trying to claim that spending three grand on a pushbike was actually a necessity.

A lot of people just don't realise that because something isn't what they want to spend their disposable income in doesn't mean it is a dumb purchase. To an extent, all purchases made with disposable income are frivolities that nobody really needs. They just make us enjoy our own interests more.

Do you realise the hypocrisy of that? Or with the tent issue?

Back on topic, exactly what are you looking for, Gold, SS, Titanium?
Plain, three hand dial, chronograph, illuminated display?
You say leather band - black or brown?
Dial colour and finish?
You have to consider these things as you give the impression of being clothing conscious and you want it to compliment your clothing - or at least not clash.
As has been said, some may value a good quality watch as it can last for decades, whereas others see them as disposable items, and won't spend more than a tenner on one.

Last watch I had (I don't wear one) was a three hand analog, had a SS band and surround of the watch glass, which was a strong crystal - I was doing manual work and needed something resistant to knocks and general wear and tear, water resistant to keep out sweat, water, etc.
It wasn't proof against me leaving it somewhere though...
