The sound of the engine starting in a diesel will stand out for a while. No matter how refined they are they still sound like chug boats. Once going though the engine should sound much smoother.

True - I noticed it was much better after 5mins of driving already.
I have to do 300km on Tuesday so I can give it a good thrashing then
