This is pretty much why I asked. If you break down in the Dalton you could be there for quite some time in your vehicle before being rescued, not to mention there's a lot of stretches of road where people come off it, especially in the winter, which is when we are going. Any site I read about it recommends at least 3 spare tyres, spare fuel and lots of supplies to eat and drink. It's regarded as the most dangerous road in north America with the longest stretch between any kind of services. And it is grizzly country. It's amazing me that the yanks here are suggesting mace instead of a gun.
Blah blah whatevers. It's always "X country" somewhere in the US. For example, never stop when you're close to Las Vegas because it's bat country.
