Buy a black power rifle (not making a joke here) because I know you can buy them at 18 and without any particular registration. They've come quite a long way too technologically.

If not then a couple of road flares and air horns should scare off most bears, if that fails then just make sure you're standing behind your old man.

Cheers for the info my man. Yeah I must admit I figured airhorns would do the job too, but a gun would just feel alot safer. Maybe I'm being over-cautious, I have no idea. Hence the asking for advice.
