Getting married on Saturday. Hired a videographer on a discount deal, paid the deposit and were happy.

2 weeks beforehand he sends us an email saying his camera is broken and wants US to pay for the rental. Try to contact him and he messes us around and completely fails at contacting us.

Finally sent us an email saying his partner has pulled out and he wants to completely cancel and refund our deposit.

UK law states we had a contract and he has broken it.

Sent him an email saying we agree to nothing and will not discuss it before the wedding and that we will contact him regarding our legal position after the wedding.

Let him stew on that.

So he has offered to refund your deposit and is backing out of the deal..... Whats the problem? You get your money back what more are you looking for? Move on and find another person. You haven't lost any money, you actually come off as a tw*t. I would say since he isnt screwing you out of anything but the time it took to find and hire him just move on.
