Shot in the dark, cause this going to be vague.

I'm not sure if it was a series or a film, but I recall it being a Mecha anime from the mid 80's possibly early 90's. The main characters had sports related mech abilities, I specifically remember one of them using a base-ball fast pitch attack.

The scene I remember involved their ship being stuck on a planet under a shrinking force-field and it reacted to any weapons fire.

Not much to go on I know, but I'm sure somone must remember it.
