I agree there is a difference in what they are trying to achieve to a point, but Yahoo initially and primarily (unless I am mistaken) is a company and a service for finding information on the internet. I remember going back years and years when you could browse through hundreds of thousands of categories in Yahoo, it was like a massive hierarchy of the contents of the Internet (you maybe still can, not used their site for years).

But I think the message is still a valid one. It's about a clean, crisp interface which is so simple to use.
