lol @ the call girl cards. A friend of mine brought some of those back when he went there, so yes I am familiar. It sounds like there's quite a bit of street hassling going on, although hopefully I'll avoid any rough patches.

I'm staying at the MGM Grand in a Bungalow Suite, going Monday-Friday in May. Squartum, word on the small casinos, I'll have to check them out. As for tips, I'm always a pretty generous tipper, but any recommendation on tip amounts would be appreciated. I was thinking maybe $3 tips on drinks, but not sure if this is too generous or too light. Is it worth it to tip bigger on the first set of drinks (say $5-10) and then lower after that ($2-3), or should you just pick a tip amount and stick to it. Also what's the typical tip at restaurants and buffets? I usually tip about 20-25% depending on the quality of service.
MGM is always nice, especially because Tropicana is just across the street and they have $5 blackjack, one of the few places on the strip that still have that aside from the small ones. While there look into signing up for the casinos players clubs. A lot of them are free to do and they will give you a few free pulls on a slot machine, some chips to start you on a table, things like that. Just don't pay for any of these services as it is obviously not worth it to you as a tourist.

As for tipping, I always had the best luck with dropping her a 5 spot (as long as you plan to sit here for a while) or so early on and then slowing down on the tips after that, a dollar or two is fine. Tipping for restaurants is the same as most places don't feel like you need to tip extra. When it comes to buffets don't feel like you need to tip huge at all. Your buffet server will simply bring you drinks and clear plates, no need to be overly generous with the tips.

Are you renting a car while there? You won't have to worry about really any overly sketchy places if you stay on the main strip. The further north you go (read: past the Wynn) you will start to run into sketchier territory. The real shady areas are the east/northeast side of the city. And as a tourist there is really no need to ever go to these areas.

If you are single head out to the chicken ranch.........................
Unless "chicken" is some slang I am not familiar with I think you are referring to the "Bunny Ranch." If you really want to hit a good ***** house you cant miss "The Cherry Patch Ranch II" in Amargosa Valley. Yes, I said it is the second one, the first one burnt down in what I can only assume was some kinky fetish. And for your convenience it shares a parking lot with a truck stop. You can even check them out online to see their "allstar" lineup .
