Just got back from my trip on Friday. Awesome time and thanks for the advice ladies and gents.
Some of my perceptions and experiences-
- Good lord the weather is nice there. It was 90 degrees everyday, sunny, and felt perfect whether it was during the day or at night.
- The dudes handing out prostitute cards were so annoying. I can't believe how aggressive they were with families, let alone the fact that anyone would bring their family to the strip.
- I only got a chance to go to 1 nightclub and a few lounges. I went to Studio 54, and it was OK. I liked the addition of go-go girls on podeums, but otherwise it was nothing I hadn't seen before in big cities I've lived in, and I've definitely seen better. I wanted to hitup Moon at the Palms, but my companions weren't too keen on it. One of the lounges I went to, however, was The Mix at THE HOTEL in Mandalay Bay. It was absolutely pro, 65 floors up, leather couches and perfect mood lighting with an open-air glass balcony that had a view of the entire strip and most of Las Vegas. Very cool.
- Sheesh, it is way too easy to gamble there. I didn't want to do much of it at all, but just a little nudge from my brother and cousin and I was at a slot machine again dumping money away. They really set you up with all the hotels you have to walk through and all the shops each one includes.
- Vegas was all-together a lot of fun, but it seems ideal for a 3 night / 4 day trip (I went for 4 days, 5 nights) with a mix of weekend and week days. It also seems better for couples, bachelor/bachelorette parties, and single men. I went with my cousin and my brother, all of us being in serious relationships. The atmosphere just makes you want to be either devious or cutesy, whichever's more convenient.
Can't believe how many times I heard the following-
WATER ONE DOLLA ONE DOLLA, COLDEST WATER YOU'VE EVER HAD ONE DOLLA ONE DOLLA
FREE GIRLS MAN! I GOT ALL DA HOES MAN!
would definitely do it again. I liked staying at the MGM Grand, although the Mirage, Bill's Gambling Hall and Casino, the Luxor, and Mandalay Bay would be on my shortlist.
