Yes, you´re right.
It´s cheaper paying 1000$ for a high end rig and then just pirating the game.

What do you play your console games on? I'm guessing a nice $1000 or so quality HDTV right?

A good home theater surround sound system? Sure that may not be the case for you or anyone else, but whatever money you may save on buying a console rather than buying an expensive gaming PC will likely go towards a really nice TV & sound system. At least it could be argued to be useful in other things such as watching movies or TV...something else that computers are good at. Not really trying to argue, just throwing that point out there.
