All the power savings modes do is adjust the visual effects and hdd sleep/monitor sleep times etc - nothing major deep down.

The 13z is a ULV notebook remember though, even though it's a Core2Duo !
Thats not true at all, they can adjust the cpu step speed(s), vga power usage, HDD spin time, ect... However, adjusting the screen down in brightness has the largest effect on longevity. Personally, I can not stand anything less than 100% brightness on netbooks/laptops. If I had to look at a 50% brightness screen all the time, I'd throw the thing out.
