Ok still not getting it, probably my previous explanations but hey ho.
I've got nothing against the Union but I'm English. To me, Scotland, Wales et al are separate countries. Same as any where in Europe. We've got a closly intertwined history but there's loads of neighboring countries which share history.
No we don't have a closely intertwined history. We have three centuries of joint history. As the British we fought the French, and the Germans, twice. As the British we perfected steam power and led the Industrial revolution. As the British we sailed the finest ever navy. As the British we commanded an Empire greater than Rome. Then we kind of lost it

Our finest hour was the Battle of Britain. There's nothing wrong with identifying with your home country but rejecting the Union itself or comparing it to Europe is plain stupid.
