The 'i' prefix has always been used by several companies. it's just that Apple really jumped on it and almost tried to make it their own. They've kind of succeeded in that way. I'm sure Compaq's pocket PC's were called ipaq's etc...

I hope Fujitsu win this one though. Apple seem to think they can sue anyone or thing associated with apples, so they deserve it.
