The best and most effective way to quit smoking is to want to.

I quit 3 years ago, after many many attempts previously and the only way I was able to finally do it was to just want to do it.

Breathing is nice, not hacking up brown crud is nice, not having brown fingers and teeth is very nice.

Just decide to want to be done with them, and do it.
