Surely, as the shuttles were built from government funds (gained from the taxpayer) NASA should be giving these spacecraft to museums rather than trying to make £30,000,000 on each one? Or is that too radical a way of thinking?
One is going to the Smithsonian, so that leaves two left - the money is a token amount for what is being offered, though. It's essentially a 'guarantee' of the level of next owner.

Better still is that you can have a main engine for nothing: all you pay is the P&P.
