I've got a nift-fifty (Canon 50mm EF prime) for my 1000D, which has a 1.6x crop sensor. The 50mm acts as a 80mm(!) on my camera.

I'm wondering if there are any adapters or anything similar to get me a smaller reach, somewhere close to actual 50mm. Am I out of luck? Or should I just get a 35mm? 80mm is quite restrictive for what I am doing.
Nope, nothing you can do.

Question is what are you actually trying to do...

A 50mm lens on a crop camera is a good head/shoulders portrait lens, provided it's fast. Not so good as a universal lens. FOV doesn't cut it.

Tell us what you want to do with it, we'll tell you what to get.
