You simply cannot compare the slaughter of Whales and Dolphins to the slaughter of other animals that are bred for human consumption.
The fact that in the western hemisphere we breed cattle, sheep, chickens, goats etc and feed them, nurture them and fatten them up and slaughter them to eat does not compare to the Japanese who are Hunting a "Wild animal" that is not bred in captivity in huge numbers.
How do they know how many surviving whales of a certain kind are still alive in the worlds oceans, without taking the chance that the next one they kill could be the last surviving member of that species.
Do they check whether the one their killing is male or female before they Harpoon it?
I doubt it.
Without, breeding whales in captivity like you would any animal that humans rely on as a food source, and increasing its numbers that way, then they can't possibly tell when they will kill too many and make its kind extinct.
With regards to the Australians, Do you have a Navy?
If so, The next time some whaling fleet strays into your waters illegally and starts whale hunting, Just blast the B@stards out of the water, That's what Iran would do and they get away with pretty much anything at the moment.
And this thread is heading for a locking, this anti-american and anti-British rivalry does no one any favours and just makes the people who are slinging mud look like Spoilt Children. [yawn]
