Well, if you go back to the 486 (and 386?) days, it was true. Since then - no way!
Except maybe for the Pentiums - I know there were Cyrix CPUs that fitted the Pentium socket but don't think there were any AMD ones that did as Intel had taken legal action against AMD - anyone clarify this?
Didn't Socket 7 take Intel and AMD CPUs?
I mean Pentium and K5/K6/K6-II CPUs?

K6 needed Super Socket 7, but it was compatible with Pentiums as well...
