The Colossus of Rhodes probably never existed, gentlemen.

What makes you say that? I'm currently in the middle of a book about The Seven Wonders of the World, but haven't got to the chapter about that yet. What is probably true is that it didn't stand astride the harbour entrance like it is often portrayed.
