Let's narrate the story from her point of view....just for fun...

8am, I get up and wash my hair, have a doughnut and head off to my job. Get in and find a letter from corporate telling me not to sell droid phones to anyone apart from new customers for legal reasons. Great, the usual detailed explanation! 9.30, some jerk comes in and starts trying to embarrass me in front of other customers because I don't have much information about why I can't sell him the phone he wants. I get the impression he thinks I made the policy personally.....

Dude, she was probably looking flustered because you were asking her a reasonable question that she couldn't answer. It doesn't sound like you can tell if someone's lying or not at all. It just sounds like you like to embarrass people who can't help you lol.
