I actually know people who work at Verizon Stores and they would never be told to lie to people . Only 2% of people who apply at Verizon get accepted. They have very strict hiring requirements. They are a great company to work for and very strict as in you screw up once and your fired. They also own everything in their networks and are not in dept like lots of other companies. Anyway I would probably go back and ask the store manager why you were allowed to buy it from another location just to clear it up once and for all.
If their mobile operation is anything like their dsl operation then the people who fed that info to you are full of ****. From salespeople who don't warn you that the wiring in your house might be too old to support dsl to customer service reps flat out lying about out of country call center locations (Tijuana and Manila), it's obvious that the truth is something Verizon likes to skirt around if it'll turn a buck.
