It actually makes good sense to purchase the books required for your major. Chances are you're going to want to dip into them after college, plus it's a good way to start building your personal library.

exactly. we read the majority of the books as well, not all. so i like to catch up when i can after the course and i usually find out why we skip those parts (usually the boring/less informational sections)

Most libraries don't carry college books.

i would hope your campus library does
