This isnt true. Some schools may be under the false impression that parents are not allowed to take pictures at events, but many other sources came out saying this view is incorrect. I believe the Department for Education (or Department for Schools, Children & Families..whatever its called these days) released guidance to schools saying that it is completely legal and fine to allow parents to film/photograph.
