Tasers are supposed to be a self defence weapon, it's ridiculous that they are now being used when ever the cop feels like it. [thumbdown]

And tasers are not always harmless, people have died due to their use.

If you're resisting arrest the cop has 2 choices. He can taze you, or he can force you to the ground and cuff you. The tazer is the safer method for both people, and is less harmful.

Tasers are not some deadly weapon that kills everyone that gets shocked. Used properly (as in not shocking someone until you run out of juice) tasers are pretty safe.

There is no safe and harmless way to subdue someone who is resisting arrest. Every option available to the officer carriers risk to himself and the other person.

The taser was the least harmful thing he did to that old lady. She's more likely to break a hip from the shoving than die from a single hit from a taser.

So pick your option.. force an old lady to the ground and cuff her using physical force... or zap her with a taser?

The only safe solution to the issue is for people to stop comitting crimes.
