I have yet to run across a client that uses anything other than FW400/800 or USB 2.0 but if it was necessary for $15 you can add one to any laptop with an ExpressCard slot. I also always run projects off an internal drive.
Ahh... well I'm the opposite... the requirements for eSATA connectivity for me are very important. Often I am required to do on-site editing using full HD content. Any external drive connected via Firewire or USB is no where near fast enough to cope (incl. FW-800). Using eSATA enables me to connect any HDD I want, including RAID-0 arrays for uncompressed HD, which is great when doing live transers on-set.

And with internal notebook HDDs with 7200RPM speeds currently limited to 320GB on the consumer level, there is usually not enough room to do local HDD editing on many occasions due to the sheer size required for some on-site projects.

But then again, with Uncompressed HD and many other high end formats not being naitevly supported in Final Cut like they are is in Premiere CS4, you probably don't get this problem anyway. [rofl]
