It's based on Time Magazine's 100 best novels of all time, so rest assured the subject material is top notch. I too thought the same thing until I read the graphic novel, and I must say I haven't looked forward to a movie this much in a long, long time.

It's actually on Time's list of "the 100 best English-language novels from 1923 to the present", but in any case that's still a remarkable feat. To even consider a graphic novel as one of the best English novels of the 20th century is unbelievable.
