It sounds like you at least made her sit up and think a little about how you feel about the whole situation here with your very astute arguments here. If the subject of the whole "speaking in tongues" thing comes up again, there is a point of view that you could put across that might also have a similar effect. You see, practically everybody thinks that speaking in tongues is either speaking complete gobbledegook or speaking in a language that they didn't previously understand, whereas what it actually means is the speaker will be understood by everybody who is listening, regardless of what languages they speak or understand themselves, kind of like a universal language that was supposed to have been given by god so that his messengers could spread "the word" to the far reaches of the world. Maybe you could ask her to explain her own experiences of this phenomena.
That's just not true. I suspect that you are misunderstanding what happened on Pentecost in the Bible.

In the Bible, prayer is often referred to as a kind of weapon for people to use in this world. Now if you think of normal pray as a bomb, think of speaking in tongues as a laser guided missile.
