I'm thinking of learning database programming
I don't plan on becoming a programmer though as it's not what I'm interested in. I'm not a big fan of programming to being with so I'm not even sure I should be thinking about it.
If you don't want to be a programmer, and you don't like programming, studying programming doesn't seem like a good choice. It's not really something you can take a light approach to either. Programming's a very fast-moving profession, so unless it's your main focus, you'll fall behind. Of course falling behind is a risk in any part of IT, but I think more-so with programming.

There's a lot of infrastructure work out there that doesn't require programming knowledge. Basically, unless you want to be a programmer, you don't need to know how to do it.
