I hate programming with a passion but it's quite heavy in my course (I got gipped at open day!) I don't mind it, I just hate the process of it having to code ages only to find that it doesn't bloody work after.

Programming itself is quite important but depends on the field. Programmers generally are quite highly sought after hence why they're generally paid more.
