Plus from what I can tell this is one of the most accurate 'true story' movies I've ever seen. Everything was so genuine and moving....
I watched the movie a few times and even read the book, both were fantastic! However, I quoted this part of your post to bring up a point, and that is with the book it shows him as much more of a not job that the lovable, misunderstood charector in the movie. The book even has excerpts from some of the real life counterparts portrayed in the film. Most say he was off his rocker most the time. Not just rage against the machine and misunderstood crazy, but 'this guy belongs in a nut house' crazy. I wonder what the truth really is...

None the less, great flick!

On a side note, this happened a long time ago. And when it was first public, a movie was to be made then but the parents decided against it for the sake of showing there son in a negative light. It was years later that, I believe it was Sean Penn, who decided to give the parrents another try. With so much time passing and really only the parents and sister to recant the story, it's no supprise there is a portion of blame being put on the parents. I'm sure, as most parrents would, they felt responsable and told the story that way..
