If you ask your supervisor before you start work they will provide a pair of disposable socks that fit over your regular socks.
They are sort of like ankle socks that allow your foot to breathe but don't allow anything through the other way.
Although that said as long as your own boots are steel toe capped, & offer ankle protection
then they are acceptable.
BTW you should only have to wear safety boots when working outdoors or when operating machinery.
If you have indoor work such as painting & decorating tasks then usually regular shoes/ trainers are acceptable.
