I kinda liked the movie, but would it matter if the "DS" showed some behavioral intelligence? I mean, in what way would that change the overall plot?

Because if they do, it defies the human perception of them (typical of us to under estimate our foes etc).

The DS's are obviously displaying intelligence, by the way the Alpha Male directs the attack on his house, and uses the dogs to attack him earlier in the film.

I think the trap was laid by them.
