call me crazy zoo, but isn't your new love "apple" just as infatuated with DRM. ITUNES sure as hell is, so much so they had to be sued in the EU about it.
Apple have been trying to dump DRM for ages... don't you keep up with the tech news? iTunes plus has dumped DRM - you get 256kbps AAC songs, completely DRM free for $0.99

Seriously, DRM does not favor the publishers because it gives too much control to the hardware manufacturers. Ironically, the music publishers insisting on DRM handed Apple the monopoly it has on MP3 players to them on a plate. Now the publishers are worried, which is why NBC pulled the plug on the iTunes video store.

er... and just because I have a Mac, doesn't make me one of the Apple faithful. I just happen to like the design and the apps.
