I seem to have missed those threads

Probably because your workplace has only started to apply site filters - as mentioned a little earlier in this thread, the forum changes took place a good while back.

Its just that when I encountered the problem, I immediately thought of other sites that have run afoul of blocking (usually of emails to subscribers) and how they reacted passively and/or aggressively to resolve the situation. Although the filtering of the forums is unfortunate, there's not a lot that we can specifically do. Mind you it's not as bad as Anandtech's forum which, at least the last time I tried them, did not allow anyone with an AOL IP address to use them!
