That Australia thing sucks, though.

When not capped I get 20000/256, so at least some Aussies (like me) can get the speed. Upload speeds are always low... except for one ISP which overs 1Mbit and 2.5Mbit upload on some of their ADSL2+ plans.

However we have hit a brick wall with the old copper network, it simply can't deliver high speeds to the majority of homes and can't offer large amounts of data at low cost. The reality for many Aussies is... dial-up (if not living in a city) or shitty ADSL @ 1.5Mbit.
