Didn't Ben say he brought the rest of the "others" to the island?

I'm getting confused with the names: Ben came onto the island with his dad(?) to work with the Darhma crew - they all got killed off by the hostiles (the current others). Ben met the hostiles as a child, at about 12 years of age. The guy he met in the wooded area (hostile) is now still in the series as an "other", and still has speaking lines yet Ben is way older than him, yet by all acounts should be pretty much in his 70s or at the very least approaching retirement age.
