Wait, you were texting while this was going on? He probably thought you were reaching for a weapon, getting rid of drugs, or some other shady act until he was close enough to see it was a cell phone; then he realized you were just a jackass. Seriously, what’s the deal with being attached to the cell phone 1,000,000% of the time?!

When you add that to getting out of the vehicle and then questioning why you had to get back into it, I could see where his straight to the point attitude and whole nine yards came from.

Also, about the spot light and everything else, he probably didn’t want to get Fing shot or something that night so he was using everything he had to make the situation as safe for HIM as possible.
I am not attached to the cell phone, but I did have people depending on me being at a certain place at a certain time. I also did not want people inside of my house to start freaking out... so I was texting.

I don't even know why I am going to explain this, but I feel compelled to do so.

*Deep breath*

The reason he had to pull you over was legitimate, you did have a broken tail light and regardless if the scrapyard was closed you could of just as easily went to walmart and bought some tape to put over it until you got it fixed.
The reason he told you not to text anymore is simple, he does not know who you are talking to and what about and therefore can not determine weather you are plotting against him (IE calling friends)
The reason for the spot light is to make sure that he can see all your movements, because to a police officer the most deadly thing is a persons hands, if you can monitor their hands then you have the best chance of going home that night.
The reason for his to ask you about drinking is because well it's late, on the weekend, and you said yourself you were going down a road that nobody travels down. It would seem like, depending on the crime in the area in which you live to be somewhat suspicious. There could have been a B&E within the last 24 hours and they are looking for a particular person or something along those lines that could end up being the criminal caught red handed.
The officer did have a legitimate reason to stop you, and like someone else already said, most stops for minor things end up getting drugs. Now it's not as if he was just sitting there waiting for you after you walked out of the bar, he was simply doing his job in a PROACTIVE fashion which requires using small time infractions to catch big time criminals.
Most people wouldn't have a problem if they knew that they are always looking for narcotics and if they knew how much they get by those kind of stops then they wouldn't complain.
I understand where you are coming from, but if the guy was not a total douche from the start it would be different. I was OUT OF MY CAR when he finally got there. I did not realize it was the cop till the lights and sirens came on when he pulled in front of me. I thought it was some ******* driving way too fast down down a road like that. So after already being out of my car... why couldn't he just get out and still even have the light on me, and tell me about my tail light? Why did he make me get back into the car, even though I was out before his arrival? That just stinks of ********. After I explained the light situation, and he new my address, why would have have to go right into drinking and stuff though?

Spin it all you want, and I can appreciate where you are coming from, but no ****ing tail lights needs two cops on the scene. I live in a small town, they were the only two ON DUTY LAST NIGHT! AT 2AM! So throughout the rest of the town, there could have been drunks lining the streets. They were wasting time with me though. This was nothing more than bored local cops, hoping to score big.

How do you defend him saying he was giving out tickets because people were giving him **** that night? He was out to nail people, for his own satisfaction.

What make model was the Saturn and how many miles were on it?
1995 SW2, DOHC engine. I am having a pain the ass time finding one, for a reasonable price. If you know of one... [thumbup] .
