so i will have to take of my bike gloves to use it... wonderful
How well do your bike gloves work with the scroll wheel? I've never had good luck with it unless it's direct skin contact. In the winter, I use my nose to dial the volume up and down just so I don't have to take my gloves off.

And the wireless power... why is it so hard to imagine? My electric toothbrush charges that way already. There was an article about this in the latest popular science, I believe. All you have to do is generate an electric field, and have something with an inductor in it that runs perpendicular to the field. The field will pass through the inductor coils and generate current in it.

Personally, I wouldn't mind just coming home and dropping my phone, ipod, and laptop off on a charging-equipped table and forgetting about it. It would sure beat having to search for all my cords all the time.

The only issue I can see right now is that the amount of power available for wirelessly charging devices is quite limited. I think it was something comparable to the amount of current a USB port provides. So it probably couldn't power a laptop while it's running yet, but smaller devices like phones and pdas should be okay.

It's not magic, really.
