Damaged are you a hi-fi repair man? I ask because I bought a brand new Technics stereo system a couple of years ago and its always had a problem where if you have the volume over a certain amount the amp cuts out, the volume just knocks off but the amp is still turned on. I should have sent it back to where I bought it from but "I couldnt be arsed"

Ive been wanting to get it fixed for ages but there is no where around where I live (Chorley). Is this something you could sort out do you think?

Its a Technics SC-HD550.

Cheers mate.
I used to be but now i deal with returns to manufacturers, it sounds like your amp is cutting into protection, is the point it cuts out at about 12 o'clock on the dial? if so that tends to be fairly normal as most amps are running at peak output at that point.

If its lower than that i would take a look at you speaker connections as a loose cable can trip a protection circuit.
