How come we hate each other so much over politics, but talk like old friends over football?

I think because we both love this sport and probably both grew up watching it. Politics on the other hand we grew up on completely opposite ends of the spectrum, you in a more heavily populated area with higher tariffs and more government control and me in a rural area with very little government interference.
