Off the top of my head:

Make sure nothing against Shariah and Sunnah happens during the marriage.
Always make Mashura with someone senior when issues pop up
Do not expect much from your Wife. If you have high expectations, you will get hurt when expectations are not fulfilled.
Learn all the Masnoon duas you will need
Treat her parents like your parents
Maintain such a relationship with your Wife that she is able to tell you all her problems. If the husband is someone who jumps at her face everytime she makes a mistake or wants to talk, then she will start taking problems outside the house, which will lead to problems
Make a habit of doing Ta'leem at home
If your Wife needs any masail, learn it yourself from proper Ulama and teach her

Forgive her mistakes, 70 times a day, even if she repeats the same mistake over and over again.
