No offence to Yusuf estes, but on the video posted on Youtube from him answering a question about "Salafi" He doesn't even understand the correct meaning of the word which he translated as "I'm dead" and "I'm a dead righteous guy"
He does not TRANSLATE it. He tells you what it actually MEANS when you say "I am a Salafi". This means you are a sahaba, tabeen or tabe-tabeen! And we know that people from these generations are dead, so if you say I am a Salafi, then it really means your dead too!

You can be a Hanafi or Shafii, even though they "founders" are dead, because these are schools of thought. "Salafiya" is not a school of thought (a.k.a. Madhhab), it's a period of time. And it isn't a methodology (manhaj), because there are only 4 Unanimously accepted manhajs, and their founders are Absolute Mujtahids, and THESE are the manhaj of the Salaf. So if you are a hanafi, shafi, maliki or hanbali, you are upon the manhaj of the Salaf, and you don't have to be called a "Salafi".

There isn't no such thing as manhaj of the best three generation which is based on the ideas of a scholar of the XX century, who aren't capable of ijtihad!

Salam Alaykum
